Volkswagen's 200,000 Vehicles in Brazil
Volkswagen recalled 200,000 vehicles in Brazil, because of a problem with the rear wheels that could cause them to seize or fall off. This was announced on February 11, 2010 by Volkswagen. The models included in this recall are "Nova Gol" and "Voyage", made in Brazil before July 2009. Volkswagen is the second biggest carmaker in Brazil after Fiat Group of Italy, and it has sold more than 17 million vehicles in the country.
According to Volkswagen 193,620 Nova Gol, and Voyage cars were at risk at not having enough lubrication on its rear wheels, which "can cause noise and continuous use could lead to a blockage of the wheels." It was also said that in extreme cases, there is a chance that wheel can come off. It is important to note that this recall only effects some 2009-2010 lot. All the cars that are made after July 2009, are not included in the recall, and have no rear wheel lubrication problem.
