Toyota recall
Another Recall for Toyota – 1.53 Million Vehicles Worldwide
October 21, 2010
Leading auto manufacturer Toyota has announced a worldwide recall of 1.53 Million of its Toyota and Lexus vehicles. This recall includes 740,000 vehicles in U.S., 599,000 in Japan, and the rest in Europe and other parts of the world.
For Toyota it has been a tough 2010, as it has already recalled more than 10 million cars and trucks worldwide over the course of a year. These vehicles have problems like, faulty gas pedals, floor mats that stuck with the accelerator pedal, and braking problems.
This most recent recall is initiated to repair a problem with the brake master cylinder, which could lead to weaker braking power. According to the press release from Toyota, a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp. Similarly, some Japan based Toyota models have an electrical issue with the fuel pump that could result in the engine to stall.
The models affected by the latest recall in the U.S. include: 2005-2006 Toyota Avalon Sedan, 2005-2006 Non-Hybrid Toyota Highlander SUV, Lexus RX330 SUV, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250 and IS350 Sedans.
Although Toyota was under fire for its biggest recall of the history of automobiles, it has still managed to sell 5.6 million vehicles globally, which is 13% more than last year.
