Akio Toyoda, the head of Toyota, testified last month before a congressional committee and apologized by saying. "As the CEO of the company, I will make sure that we will never, ever blame the customers going forward."

Dallas attorney, Todd Tracy, has filed a recent suit in Dallas County District Court against Toyota Motor Corp; Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America Inc.; Toyota Manufacturing, Kentucky Inc.; Texas Toyota of Grapevine and Toyota of Irving. The allegations against the companies are all tied to sudden acceleration against Toyota. Mr. Tracy said he planned to refer to that remark in court if the company's lawyers try to blame his clients for their accidents. "Here is the No. 1 person in Toyota telling Congress they won't do that," he said, adding that when he heard the remark he "almost fell over in my chair."
