SUBARU recall
Subaru Recalling 2010 Tribeca SUVs
March 26, 2010
Subaru has recalled 1,585 2010 Subaru Tribeca SUVs for defective door latches. Apparently, during production some door latch cables were installed improperly, so that when the window is rolled down the cable might catch in the door glass regulator, and that will open the door. Owners of the 2010 Subaru Tribeca will want to exercise caution with loose cargo or unsecured passengers in the front of the vehicle as the door latch may open without warning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says in its recall summary that, "if a door were to unlatch, it could open suddenly and without warning, creating a risk that the occupant could become ejected as well as a risk that the driver may become distracted, leading to a crash. This condition may also result in the failure of a door latch to operate, in which case occupants would be unable to open the door to exit the vehicle."
Tribeca owners will be contacted by Subaru, who will fix the latches free of charge. In the meantime, be sure that everyone in the car buckles up, and that you keep all cargo in the Tribeca's cargo area.
