AUTO RECALLS IN US
Every year a number of cars are recalled in the United States. Some recalls are voluntary efforts by the manufacturers or dealerships, while some are mandatory imposed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). NHTSA is a federal agency responsible for evaluating and improving transportation safety in America. Normally, an automobile is recalled when it, or one its part could pose a serious threat to passengers, and those around them. All recalls are not the same. There are some with minor or regulatory compliance issues that can be fixed easily with one trip to the dealer, but there are others that pose a threat to you, and your passengers if they are not fixed. Unfortunately, many safety recalls are due to the manufacturer’s policies of saving money by using cheapest parts possible.
If your vehicle or one of its parts has been recalled, your car manufacturer has a legal obligation to try its best to notify you and to fix the problem for free. Some auto manufacturers may voluntarily pay repair bills, the defective product caused before the recall. But sometimes you may have to file litigation to be compensated for your financial and other damages, which may have been caused by a recalled vehicle.
If you or a loved one has been involved in crash due to a recalled automobile or auto part, you are entitled to hold the manufacturer liable for your injuries, medical bills, missed work, permanent disability, scarring or wrongful death. Our team of experienced product liability and personal injury attorneys can help you get the maximum compensation for your damages. Lexus 2010 HS 250h Vehicle Recall (ABS Software Problem)
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc, announced a voluntary safety recall on approximately 14,500 Lexus 2010 HS 250h vehicles to update software in the vehicle’s anti-lock brake system (ABS). The ABS system prevents wheel lock-up by automatically modulating the brake pressure during an emergency stop. By preventing the wheels from locking, it enables the driver to maintain steering control and to stop in the shortest possible distance under most conditions. Some 2010 HS 250h owners have reported experiencing inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady application of brakes on rough or slick road surfaces when the ABS is activated in an effort to maintain tire traction. This faulty software can potentially lead to serious injuries or fatalities, due to the loss of braking control in the 2010 Lexus HS 250h Vehicles.

Honda's 440,000 Vehicles Recall (Faulty Airbags Problem)
Honda has now recalled 440,000 of its popular vehicles because of potential problems with the vehicles’ airbags that can cause injury or death to motorists. The defect reportedly involves the drivers-side airbags. The affected Honda vehicles include some 2001 and 2002 Accords, Civics, Odysseys, and CR-V models, as well as the 2002 Acura TL models. One Honda Pilot and one Acura CL vehicle (yes, one vehicle for each model), produced in late 2002, are also included. The problem stems from the vehicles’ airbag inflators, which can place too great a force on the airbag when put into use, fracturing the inflator and causing metal shards that have resulted in 12 incidents, including one fatality.

Volkswagen's 200,000 Vehicles in Brazil
Volkswagen recalled 200,000 vehicles in Brazil, because of a problem with the rear wheels that could cause them to seize or fall off. This was announced on February 11, 2010 by Volkswagen. The models included in this recall are "Nova Gol" and "Voyage", made in Brazil before July 2009. Volkswagen is the second biggest carmaker in Brazil after Fiat Group of Italy, and it has sold more than 17 million vehicles in the country.
According to Volkswagen 193,620 Nova Gol, and Voyage cars were at risk at not having enough lubrication on its rear wheels, which "can cause noise and continuous use could lead to a blockage of the wheels." It was also said that in extreme cases, there is a chance that wheel can come off. It is important to note that this recall only effects some 2009-2010 lot. All the cars that are made after July 2009, are not included in the recall, and have no rear wheel lubrication problem.
Volkswagen's 20,000 Vehicles in Mexico
A day after announcing a massive 200,000 vehicle recall in Brazil, German automaker Volkswagen announced a recall in Mexico. According to the company, it is recalling 20,000 vehicles in Mexico, due to rear wheel bearings problem. This is the same issue that caused the recall in Brazil. The vehicles included in the recall are “Gol” and “Gol Sedan” models.
